Termination. Waiting for Adjudication?

I was terminated because my TS-SCI clearance was suspended. I failed to disclose previous drug use on my SF 86, then after starting my federal civilian job about a month in I came to understand how big of a mistake I had made so I self reported that I had tried marijauna once and shrooms once, both years in the past back in college. They let me know that experimentation is pretty common, and that my biggest mistake was lying about it on my SF-86, which makes sense.

All this to say, I feel like there’s a chance that I could get my clearance reinstated, right? I need outside opinion on that I guess.

I feel like I did the right thing in the end by going in and being honest pretty early on, and unfortunately it blew up in my face and I lost my job.

But where do I go from here? I was told my case would be adjudicated by DSCA, but probably not for up to a year. Is there any way to make that happen any quicker? Or does that not happen at all now that I don’t have a job?

Sorry to hear. Yeah, the light drug use by itself is usually not that big of a deal. Lying on SF86 is far worse.

Unf, you may be stuck in purgatory right now. My understanding is you can’t appeal or do much of anything while suspended, except wait. And it could be a very long wait. Sometimes it goes faster than expected but, don’t count on it. Maybe you can appeal with your employer/agency to take you back and put you on something uncleared while you’re waiting?

Your best options (probably) are to consult with an attorney, reach out to your congressman or senator to see if they can expedite it, or pivot to uncleared work until adjudication is complete. Best of luck.
