The Work Number

Can any one enlighten me as to why Investigators now need to get verbal confirmation from an employee at a company that their company utilizes The Work Number (TWN) for employment verifications and we can no longer accept a company’s automated phone tree or the company’s website saying that company uses the TWN? DCSA is trying to streamline investigations by having us do everything virtually or by phone but not this. I have come across many companies where it is impossible to get through the automated phone tree to actually talk to a person who can tell me that their company uses TWN. When that happens, I then have to schedule out an in-person attempt to a local investigator to get this verbal confirmation. It seems like a big waste of time and delays cases closing. Did something happen that investigators are not aware of that made DCSA change to this procedure? I have actually had employees at companies get mad at me and say our website says we use TWN. I feel like an idiot when I have to explain to them, I need to hear it from a person and get their name and job title.

Couldn’t agree more. They are cutting corners in other things, but worried about TWN? SMH.
