How’d you end up? Hoping it isn’t the end for me
I accepted offers from 3 agencies and got a suitability denial from 1 but cleared by the other two (but still no job yet). Just kept applying
Dang I should’ve applied to multiple places then. Just applied to DIA today but man it’s gonna be a while
3 letter internship
CJO 8/24
Interview 9/24
Poly 10/24
Still in progress as of 1/7, then rescinded for some reason. It noted that it was not a clearance denial and that I am welcome to apply again.
If it was suitability wouldn’t it have happened earlier? Are internships first on the cutting block or something? It didn’t say anything about suitability even just rescinded.
you can join me if i decide to reapply next year. also got rescinded and have submitted a privacy act request to figure out why
Suitability can occur anywhere throughout the process unfortunately
Good plan, but unfortunately I would not get my hopes up. I did the same when I got my suitability denial and got 10 pages of redacted info. Nothing whatsoever that indicated the issue.
Do you mind sharing how long it took for them to complete your request? They already emailed me asking for a notorized declaration of identity which I subsequently sent them so clearly they see I made a request
3ish months. But it was not for Meade
24’June-poly
Aug- asked to come back to explain
24’Dec- called to say cleared
TS/SCI w/poly
My TS/SCI timeline (federal):
Applied: 4/23
Interviews/Testing: 10-11/23
CJO, SF86 Submitted: 12/23
Two-round Poly, Psych Eval: 02/24
BI: Summer 24
Notification about moving forward in the hiring process and benefit paperwork to be done once formally approved for onboarding: 12/24
No news since then. So assuming clearance process is over (although it was not mentioned in the communication at all), can anyone shed any light on what goes on between adjudication and the FJO?
Regarding the current hiring freeze, it looks to me like this agency is not affected by it.
Hello all again, applied for USSS about a day after I was informed they weren’t continuing with my hiring process with another gov agency.
Here is the approx. timeline thus far,
applied mid November
tested around the 20th of November
APFT early DEC
Pannel interview mid DEC
CJO end DEC
SF86, medical, and other paperwork submitted mid Jan.
currently awaiting poly, medical examination, and Clerence approval (I think it’s a TS this time).
Wish me luck, this is the last time I’m doing this process.
really depends on how backlogged the DCSA is. normally about 3-4ish months from completion of investigation to decision depending on history.
First time poster here, figured I would throw in my timeline. Hopefully my extremely long and stressful process will give some of you still waiting some hope!
3 Letter Agency - TS/SCI FS Poly timeline (Agency A)
CJO - 3/2020
SF86 - 3/2020
Security Interview - 6/2020
Investigation - Summer 2020
1st Poly - 11/2020 (failed)
2nd poly -12/202 (failed)
Closed out (student position and my GPA dropped too low, it was Covid) -2/2021
2nd CJO, Agency A, different position - 3/2022
3rd CJO, Agency A, different position - 3/2022
(I was co-processing for these positions. If I cleared, I would have had the choice of which one I took)
3rd poly - 05/2022 (failed)
4th poly - 05/2022 (failed… again)
Closed out - 06/2022
4th CJO, Agency A - 12/2022
Closed out… again. Didn’t re-poly, just closed out after what I assume was some kind of review - 02/2023
At this point, I was about to graduate college and was SO dejected from so many let downs, so I turned to other positions outside agency A. I ended up getting a few offers from contractors. One for TS/SCI at another agency, one for TS/SCI FS PG for the Agency A. I ended up kind of dual processing, as both were just waiting for my clearance to come through. Luckily, I was never denied a clearance so my investigation was able to be picked up from where I was discontinued and then at that point it was just a waiting game.
Accepted an offer from a different contractor that allowed me to start w/out a clearance but I needed one eventually - 08/2024
Continued waiting for any news on my clearance. Kinda reached the point where I just accepted that I wouldn’t make it into Agency A and would have to live with that, but still hoped that at the very least my clearance would come through and I could work elsewhere.
Got notice that my TS/SCI was FINALLY was adjudicated (!!!) - 07/2024
Received an email from one of the contractors that I applied to (years ago at this point) inviting me to PG at Agency A - 08/2024
5th PG at Agency A, contractor position - 08/2024 (Passed!!)
Adjudicated TS/SCI FS PG - 12/2024
Started position at the agency - 1/2025
Believe me, at times, it was HELL. Like this black cloud hanging over my head for almost 5 years. So. much. stress. But I am so happy I stuck with it. The process isn’t easy and it shouldn’t be easy. I had so much contempt towards the process because I always felt like they were picking on me specifically. Once I let go of that and just accepted the process for what it was, I made it through.
My advice to everyone - Be as honest as possible at every turn and make steps to mediate any concerns. They don’t want perfect people, they want people that they can TRUST. Even if it’s embarrassing, scary, or hard, you will not make it through if you cannot be honest (and national security is not the career path for you if you can’t be honest).
Good luck to everyone processing… you got this!
Wow 5 years! Makes me feel better about coming close to 3 years of waiting. Glad it worked out for you.
Thank you! Hoping the same will happen for you. If they really didn’t think you could potentially clear, they would have ended the process years ago. Keep holding strong!
Maryland agency finally reached out to me last week, asking for my updated resume. Had to tell em thanks but no thanks, already started with another agency. They should really work on making their process/timeline better.
Month 0 - applied for IC contracting job
Month 1 - interview, CJO, I submitted SF86
Month 3 - FSO says my SF86 went to the IC customer
Month 4 - FSO says IC customer started my security clearance process
Month 8 - someone pulled my credit report
Month 9 - BI subject interview, references contacted, poly
Month 10 - main investigator tells me all of the “field work” is done.
Presently, I assume I’m in adjudication. The investigator also told me that they were in a rush to complete my BI, whatever that means. I have several one-off flags that I think I mitigated with time, but who knows. The only current red flag I can think of is that I like foreign travel but I told the investigators and polygrapher every country that I have been and it was all for tourism because I want to see the world. I hope this doesn’t prevent my SCI access.
My BI was completed before Trump took office and commenced the federal hiring freeze. I was told that the federal hiring freeze may affect the jobs of the adjudicators.
Now I wait . . .
DOD IC agency? Exact same timeline except interview in 1/25, references contacted 2/25, still in progress.
Just hit 1 year since CJO and 6 months of adjudication for an IC agency. Anyone get adjudicated or a FJO recently?
