Is the credit pull towards the end or beginning of the investigation/adjudication?
Had an active TS for many years, my job decided to put me in for an SCI with an IC agency.
That was 17 months ago…
16 months ago i had (and passed) my CI poly.
My FSO has called for an update numerous times, each time the response is “we can’t provide any information, it’s in process”
I just pulled my credit report, and noticed a soft pull from “US GOVT” - ICCB-CENTRUM 4C-101 that happened a couple weeks ago (don’t think it’s a continous vetting thing, been part of that for many years, this is the first and only pull like this that I’ve seen)
Just wondering if they’re only just starting my application or am i close to hearing back a decision on my SCI?
I would tend to think (how’s that for weasel words) that this credit pull is related to the SCI update, not continuous eval.
One possibility is that everything is just about ready to go and they needed an updated credit check OR somebody suddenly realized it had never been done.
I had a job once where they realized at the last moment that I had not done a urinalysis. Maybe it is a similar situation here.
In my experience the credit is pulled within days of your paperwork being submitted. It’s done electronically and as soon as the agency has your signed release it’s pulled.
Just for reference to show how these things can get messed up… a woman who sat near me put in her paperwork for a periodic update (this was right around the time when they first started doing CE so they still did PRs) and did not hear anything for a long time…
Eventually the security office contacted her to tell her it had been so long since she submitted the original forms and she had to submit new ones… evidently they had done absolutely nothing with the old ones.
So there are definitely cases where things should have happened in a certain order but for whatever reason… they didn’t.
