I have a question regarding a USAREC (US Army Recruiting Command) Memo that states my clearance level as Top Secret Favorable. My current field just requires a secret clearance. Does the memo mean I am able to apply to Top Secret positions or did someone at USAREC make a mistake?
No one can answer that question on this forum. Even though your job only requires a secret they “may” have done a top secret investigation. Did you get a T3 investigation or did you get a T5 investigation? They are both done using the SF86 but the coverage requirements of the investigation are different. Sounds like you need to contact the office that handles your clearance and ask.
Ah okay thanks for clarifying the types of investigations. Hypothetically then if a T5 was completed would that make me eligible to apply for TS positions?
It’s up to the Army as to what you’re eligible to apply to but from a clearance standpoint if a T5 investigation was completed and favorably adjudicated then you would be eligible to work in a position requiring a top secret clearance (some positions may need additional things like a poly, but not all.)
