What do I do about investigator contacting current employer?

I left my old job at the end of June and just started a new job last week. I submitted my SF-86 last weekend and just realized my investigator is likely to contact my new employer. Contacting HR to verify employment is fine, but my supervisor is going to hammer me for getting that call a week after I start.

Is there anything I can do, or should I just withdraw? I’m dying for this possible new job, but it’s always possible my clearance gets denied and I’m fired from current job and left with nothing.

I just feel pretty beaten down over this…

Nope, there is nothing. I hated the fact that they had to go to my place of employment and show up to my manager face to face. It caused tension for months and I even felt like he was trying to replace me because of him now knowing I have this going on. Depending on how your manager is, try to reason with them. I know, its not something you want to hear. I decided not to talk to my manager and according to him, that made it 20x worse. I should’ve just talked to him. But yeah, do your thing.

Hello,

Investigator here…Supervisor is going to hammer you for the investigator contacting you? Reviewing the employment record and speaking to people with whom you work is a requirement of the process, and not something you, they, or even we control. I do not understand why they would get upset with you, or in the other person’s case say things like it made it worse. We generally do not advertise that we have clearances to people. In the case of the former employer(s) it is really none of their business. If the new employer has cleared individuals they should know the process.

I am sorry you are going through this.
