1099ers workload

yeah I think they owe it to us to be real and upfront about what to expect for at least the next six months because I for one cannot survive with no or little income. Did you happen to ask one of your bosses your question?

If the vendors told us the truth about the historically low workloads and that those workloads will continue from this time forward for many years to come, they would certainly lose Investigators and CI’s. So I don’t suspect they’ll be forthright or honest and I really don’t think the vendors know exactly what the future holds. The vendors know and see the low inventory but they aren’t going to project that onto the field and its employees this pessimism and negativity. Instead they are in business to make profits and they’ll say what they have to say and do what they have to do to keep morale sustainable and their hope by so doing is that many don’t exit the industry in mass numbers.

Of course anyone that has a pulse on this industry should still polish up their resume and keep all their options open.

Primes have to be bleeding money, unless they’re getting work just not passing is down like they’re mandated to in the DCSA award 30% to subs clause.

I would assume if work doesn’t pick up by the new year there will be a mass exit from IC’s and full-timers. CACI and Peraton cannot keep a large full-time staff if there is no work to go around as we all know the full-timers are expected to meet stats. That is why my wishful hopeful thinking mind thinks it could possibly be beneficial to be an IC since there is no business loss for keeping us around such as providing benefits and pay to full-timers who would be sitting around and getting paid with no work to do.

I honestly cant believe there haven’t been substantial layoffs yet. The fact none of the FT folks from CACI or Peraton are in the boards talking about the low work load is super strange. I know some subcontractor FT investigators have been furloughed for some time now. The utter lack of people in the forums talking about this whole issue blows my mind.

It’s cute you think they’re still paying full-timers without any work. I assure you they are not.

Wishful thinking that people lose jobs?

Most people and investigators have no idea of this particular forum and aren’t engaged in industry musings.

I agree. There are plenty of full timers aware of this blog, I used to be one of them. The fact that full timers are not on here complaining about lay offs, rif, furlough means they must be getting some work. Supposed contract formula––If prime receives100 cases then subs are supposed to receive 30 of those 100 cases, which obviously is not happening. Many people, including me, went to 1099 because of being promised that we would have 30% of all work in accordance with the contract. If I were the owner of a 1099 company I would be pissed, but what can they do about it, nothing. PS, I also heard a rumor that primes might make everyone 1099 which I hope is true, but I doubt it.

My mentee is 1099 on a prime and I’m 1099 as a sub to that same prime. We live in the same region. So far she’s offered a TESI once a week ..that’s it. Me, nothing. I don’t have any full timer connects to verify workload from the prime.

Um…what part of my post said I thought they are still paying full-timers without any work?? No need to bash people on this forum.

No. I said it is wishful thinking that it is beneficial to be an IC. No company is going to keep a full-time employee and pay them if they have absolutely no work to keep them busy full-time week after week and that is the dilemma this industry is in right now.

I agree. This is a huge problem and NO ONE is talking about it.

You said it during this part. But I wasn’t bashing you, I was bashing the primes who are making these decisions.

yes I said “would be” meaning in the future. I am very aware they are not paying people that are not producing work. I took the “it’s cute you think” as bashing implying I am stupid.

Yes, getting enough work - as opposed to the usual “being buried” status. It might vary by region, though, it seems that the zoning is a thing of the past and the remote attempts garbage is what I get a lot of. I agree that the 30% rule is not being followed/applied.

I’m FT employee with PERATON and the workload has been bad since September. I wish I could add more to the discussion but management doesn’t tell us much….i think it’s weird that the government shutdown should be ending soon and I haven’t heard a peep…also, PERATON terminated some staff in mid October and then furloughed about a third of employees within in the Risk Decision Group on 10/21.

Thank you for the information, it’s very much appreciated. Knowing full timers are still working, even though it’s slow, confirms what’s being said about the 30% to subs mandate which apparently is an air castle.

Thank you for the information about your work as a full timer, very much appreciated!

Also ft with Peraton. The workload has been horrible. I’ve been barely scraping by the past 2 months and somehow managed to be important enough to not be furloughed. I have 3 source interviews and 2 record checks TOTAL right now. My PCC isn’t assigning me more than like 1 day of work at a time (I’m lower level).
Our furloughed FIs are still out of work. I do not think they’ve heard anything about returning to work yet. I don’t know HOW they could return to work. We don’t have enough work to keep the remaining FIs busy.
