If someone is treating you a certain way, believe them. To all those hoping and waiting for an explanation and none is given, the lack of communication is your answer—believe them.
Maybe management doesn’t know, in my 10 plus years in this industry, I’ve noticed that the vendors are reactionary and not pro-active.
Question: so is DHS slow as well? I’m also feeling like I’m being gas lit!!
You absolutely are. Two colleagues in my relatively-close geographical area have been without more than odds and ends since September. According to management, work slowed close to the holidays, and they’ve been—and I’m quoting—promised it will pick up in 2026 with some [2025] days with additional work. The other sub I work doesn’t have any DHS work.
While there are a lot of unknowns, there are some things we do know that are impacting DCSA work availability:
- Trusted Workforce 2.0 reduced scope of investigations (no more resi’s, employment records and most flags went from seven years to five years, etc)
- Phone and VTC interviews are allowed for just about all cases
- Still no DoD appropriation so no “new starts” (and current CR runs out 30 Jan)
- Trump extended the federal hiring freeze with no definite end date
- Backlog of cases was eliminated last summer
Am I missing anything? Also a rumor that the new head of DCSA wants to greatly reduce costs. Maybe he is anti-contractor like the old OPM regime (?)
Given the above, I am not hopeful that we will ever get back to the gravy-train days of unlimited work for 1099s.
I’m sounding like a broken record, but doesn’t explain DHS.
I’m a FT employee and I constantly hear about an influx of DHS work yet I rarely see any. I’m fairly certain they have a team of VTC/telephone investigators conducting a large portion of the DHS work but they haven’t come out and told anyone that.
And I tested that the other day by emailing my boss asking for more clarification on what is going on…still no email reply back. lol

is it okay to ask which company you are talking about?
A subject I interviewed months ago by vtc out of knowhere informed me an actual fed reached to recontact them for an interview. I take that work that previously went to contractors now has been shifted to the few feds so the 1099 are 3rd choice for assignments we normally would have.
Are you with EMT? If so you probably won’t ever receive payment.
Same here!! I’m wondering if it’s based on geographical location.
what is that company? That is not good.
Bluerose, I fear you might be right. They are a small company and it seems they are struggling financially.
EMT investigators are moving to a new company? how can anyone trust the leadership after what they have done. Boaz claiming she had no idea is actually the funniest part of this.
FieldGoat there is an update under EMT Holdings Info. Are you going with PMO management? Or waiting to hear from CACI?
USIS trauma: engage!
Yes, one day you’re working the next day you aren’t.
Thanks for this. I submitted my app on the Paragon site!! ![]()
