No we are not all DoD contractors, I was a DoD contractor, now im going to be a DoS contractor…thus why I need a DoS clearance.
That last item on your list, “Assigned to an office”, how did you find this out? Is your HR POC telling you anything other than actively processing? What exactly do you ask over the phone? (Is there some magic phrase to get more info about our case from the HR POCs?)
Have you gone through the process, BI interview, poly, ref checks, and now sitting in adjudication?
I was contacted by phone and told I had been assigned to a particular office. Since then, I’ve heard nothing but “actively processing/everyone is different.”
Yes, I get the same " still processing/each case is unique" from HR. Are they all prohibited from telling us anything more?
HR probably doesn’t know much more than that. Adjudication seems to be the most opaque part of the entire clearance process.
I am DoS as well. (I think we are the only two on this entire board.) It has been a long road and it isnt even close to being done.
I believe it’s the HR norm to ensure they have an uniformed response to the pool of waiting candidates.
there are very few of us waiting on DoS clearances thats for sure.
It’s been over two years waiting on my DoE Q clearance. I filled out the online app and had the follow-up interview a couple months later, but nothing has happened since then. My company has since moved me to another position. Maybe one day…
Hi sbusquirrel,
I had question on this applicant tracking system. Till now, I was calling HR to track the application status and I was of the view that the HR only have access to applicant tracking system. From the origin of this thread, it kinda feels like the applicant somehow have access to tracking system . I seem so confused on this matter. I would appreciate if you could provide an insight on this and would request to let everybody know how an applicant an access the tracking system (if one even exist for applicant)
To my knowledge, only DoE has this system.
It would be wonderful if we had open access to see each piece completed and see if we are moving at all. Mostly you will hear “you are in process.” And that is about all. I applaud any agency building and supporting a system showing progress through the process.
I am waiting for a TS security clearance. Here is my timeline for others to see that this process is so very slow and to have as much patience as you possibly can:
November 2016 - first interview
January 2017 - 2nd interview
February 2017 - 3rd interview and a week later job offer
February 2017-April 2017 - paperwork EQIP, drug test, disclosures, finger printing all turned in.
April 25, 2017 - NBIB opened file.
July 2018 - email rcvd for verification of current address and current employer address
August 2018 - contacted by NBIB investigator and interviewed
August 2018 - references and current employer interviewed by investigator
Sept 2018 - called by investigator with more questions and verification of a few things nothing real importance.
October 2018 - OPM/NBIB - closed file sent to DOD
And that is where I am at, it is currently in the hands of the adjudicator. Hopefully I hear something soon, and not sit in limbo for another almost two years.
Keep in mind that your processing time is about 18 months. Not two years. You can’t count your interview process. Start the clock when your SF86 was submitted somewhere in April of 2017.
Hi All,
I called OPM today and they said my case is in adjudication since Sep 13th. Who should I reach out for status updates from here on? How long is wait from here? It was for Secret clearance for a company who is contractor for DSS(DOD).
-eQip: June 2017
-Interim Declined: July 2017
-All Job Managers contacted: Aug 2017
-1 Reference and 1 Neighbor Interview: February 2018
-Bi investigator interview: March 2018
-Someone from NBIB called to clear up a question on 5th September 2018
-I called OPM today (22 Oct 2018) to ask for status and they said investigation was completed and it is in adjudication since 13th Sep.
Never had any financial issues, law/police issues, no arrests, no drugs etc. clean record.
Thanks
If you need a status update you continue to contact the same person you’ve already been contacting, should be the FSO. You won’t get much information except “in adjudications” until your clearance is granted or an SOR received. Since you were just contacted last month for additional information related to the background portion you are probably less than 30 days into adjudication. A decision is supposed to be made within 90 days but many people have sat in adjudications much longer. There’s not much you can do but be patient and wait.
Thanks for quick reply. I guess I’ll keep waiting then. One more question: I know I can get a copy of Background Investigation Records by submitting form inv100 on OPM’s website. I want to do that just because I am curious to know what they investigated and what are the records they have on me. Will doing this affect my adjudication process in any way?
Thanks
Yes, patiently waiting is key. You could hear something any day but this step will most likely take a couple months. Requesting your investigation should have zero impact on your clearance decision.
Requesting your investigation has no impact on your adjudication.
