I don’t know the specific days, but I submitted SF86 last November. Not as long as compared to others, including you so I guess I should just be patient huh lol
@Rkf4ever… in that regard… I guess I’m beating you in length of time since my submission…lol.
Nah, I wouldn’t say that. Be as impatient as you want.
@Rkf4ever and I found out we are both processing for the same job announcement. So its going to be very interesting to watch how processing moves for two people in the exact same position. I assume it will shed further light on the fact the processing timeline varies by person, not position.
Oh yes, I forgot about that new information LOL
@Batdog123 and @Rkf4ever… can’t wait to see how this shakes out…lol.
Either way, I’m pulling for both of you!
@Trey3 me too, me too, hopefully they have like 30 spots open lol
One could only hope.
hmmm the recruiter said something like “i’m going to be meeting with the hiring managers to talk about with applications to expedite”, but it might have been BS.
@Selene… keep us updated.
@Selene… what did you ask to get that response?
@Selene… gotcha. Is this a certain agency in MD?
@Selene… lol
Ok, so let me ask you this… Did you happen to process in February? (Psych/poly)
@Selene… ok… gotcha!
@Selene, you might want to get clarification from the recruiter on that. Federal hiring managers can “expedite” the process by making selections sooner. Once they make the selections, it is out of their hands unless the hiring managers are SES’s or flag officers.
As for pulling out simply because you have a job offer, I would advise against that for a few reasons. There is no rule in federal service, which applicant can only accept one offer at a time if any. Also, there is no secret that the hiring process can take months even for those that do not require security clearance (ie: public trust). Plus, a tentative offer is a tentative offer and you do not have the job until you are seated. Lastly, having multiple offers give you leverages (ie: salary negotation, ability to switch agency, etc.).
@Selene… that’s a crazy story. I hope it works out for you.
I would run and not look back. If this was your experience coming in, I dont see it getting better for you.
I dont know first hand. I would say that if you are experiencing this already, it will not get any better. Some people seem to meet the worst 10% of an organization. Did you already receive your FJO or was that for another organization? Either way I would be cautious if you are entering on a new agency and you have been having a bad experience it may be a sign this is not a good fit.
Hi guys, great blog, I’m glad I stumbled upon it. My timeline:
08/2018 - passed all language tests for a Linguist position with an agency.
08/2018 - sent SF-86 ( for TS)
09/2018 - called for an interview
09/2018 - called and passed poly
09/2018 - they started calling people on SF-86 and employee references.
Nothing since that, and it’s been a year since. I have never been arrested, no drugs, lived in the same place for over 10 years. The only thing - I travel internationally a lot, twice a year for vacations… I know
I listed all of them on the form, and also call my recruiter after each travel and they schedule follow up PSI meetings. Do you think all these travels slow down the process?
My recruiter doesn’t really want to follow up on my inquiries about the status of my BI, telling me it’s out of her hands now. Just wondering when this is going to be done.
It really does seem like a lot is out of recruiter’s hands and I don’t think they get a lot of personal information, so they probably really don’t know anything.
What we have gathered through everyone’s posting is that nothing is consistent. I think it may also depend on whether you are still in school or just graduated or have been done for a while. It also seems to matter if there is an actual position available for you at the time that everything is complete. Who knows how long adjudication takes… Good luck and hang in there!
Thanks. I’ve been out of school for a while now ;). It’s only been a year from submitting my SF-86, I know a lot of people wait a lot longer than that for TS… I decided to send a letter to my senator today. Let’s see if that helps to push the process along.
