Can NSA Investigation Be Transferred to Contractor

Hello, I am currently obtaining clearance from the NSA while holding clearance from another IC agency. My question is, can a government contractor pick up the NSA investigation to progress with the investigation to complete the FSP? I currently hold a TS/SCI with CI poly, which was adjudicated earlier this year.

Maybe. Your clearance/poly aren’t normally active until you EOD. Some people have reported their clearance was picked up without EOD.

“EOD” sorry what does that acronym mean?

Entry On Duty, aka your first day.

Is this for a direct hire government position? Then I would say, “unlikely.” NSA runs its own investigations and I don’t think it is easy to pick up the investigation from them until it is complete and adjudicated. If it is for a contractor job, then “maybe” since they use DCSA to do contractor investigations (I think, at least they used to).

I would think a contractor could pick up your current clearance and put you in for the full scope if needed.

Yeah, it’s for a direct-hire government position. I thought all the IC agencies do their investigations and adjudications in-house, no matter if it’s a direct-hire government position or a contractor position?

It is a mixed bag. I used to work for a company where everybody was cleared through NSA, and the investigations were done through OPM or DISS or whoever they were at the time. But the adjudication was done by NSA.. or NSA did their own adjudication as well? Another wrinkle is that some agencies, like DIA, routinely input investigation info into JPAS (or whatever it is called now) but other agencies, like NSA, do not.

Maybe somebody else has some updated info but that’s how it was as of a couple years ago.
