Case Closed/Adjudication Status

I’m awaiting the results of my Top Secret/SSBI clearance. I started work as a contractor in March 2014 and I was granted an interim Secret clearance within 2 weeks of starting work. I completed my PSI at the end of May and at the end of the interview and my references were interviewed from June to July. My case has been closed since the end of July.

I ordered my FOIA report at the end of October and received it earlier last week. There were a few “issues” with my employers (mainly getting things wrong like where I was born, etc.) as well as my reference interviews (where I’ve traveled, etc.). The case closing transmittal also said that it was sent over to DoDCAF on July 29, which means that it’s been there for about 4 months now.

My questions are: Does it take a lot of time for it to move from “Case Closed” status to the adjudicator? If I were to be denied for my clearance, would I know immediately?

Most likely it is in the backlog queue that is a result of recent shuffling of investigations by OPM to other investigation providers. If there were issues then you would have been issued a statement of reasons and provided an opportunity to refute and/or mitigate them.

Thank you Marko! I appreciate your help.

“Most likely it is in the backlog queue that is a result of recent shuffling of investigations by OPM to other investigation providers.”

How would the OPM reshuffling affect the OP’s adjudication process if his closed investigation results have already been transmitted back to the requesting agency? Just curious.

Despite the increase in contractor investigative staffing, there has not been an increase in adjudicators at the agencies, who are now reviewing twice as many cases being closed, so now they have to prioritize with no cases coming in every day.
