I was told my “new wage” is the starting wage for Level 2. So it’s really not a wage increase for me personally, they’re just putting me at the pay rate they have to. How dumb do they think we are??? I told my section lead it was insulting to make the same wage as people who have only been doing this job for 1-2 years, when I’ve been doing the job for nearly 20 years. His response…crickets.
Where can one find these wages?
The link is in the message from RoundTable2022 above (sam.gov) and look for the Wage Determination pdf.
I got caught in an interview and couldn’t attend. Anything of note? Or did mdguy win BINGO for the perfect script of every “leadership” call EVER??? PS, same re: my “merit” increase and was so small as to be laughable…
Nothing we didn’t already know: there’s no update because of the bid protest that has been filed, so we won’t know until November. But they are confident, work keeps on coming, they’re hiring and you can get referral bonuses, etc. etc.
Oh also TDY opportunities are available for investigators.
And Handy Andy found out that school is starting today…(seriously, that was his big human interest reveal) and that Summer is over. A few new buzzwords (something “stream”?? for the contract process). Some complaining about the bid protest slowing down the award (considering CACI does it all the time in other divisions for other contracts that they don’t win). Truly motivating (not)!
Man! if CACA …I mean CACI …sorry… wins this rebid I have zero hope for this industry as a career.
Well during the bi-weekly Tuesday meeting at Paragon the rebid was mentioned and basically was told “don’t worry, be happy”
Can you go into a little more detail on that? We don’t get much info from the paragon side
Well, the RFD kept avoiding the question by pointing out the tremendous amount of DCSA work we currently have and that we should just put our head down and charge ahead. He also said that when an award is awarded, that there will probably be another dispute filed by whoever loses the award. Worse case scenario is that if Paragon does not get the contract they could become a sub-prime. Also not to worry because Paragon is so large that it has plenty of work in other fields…like site inspections. Really? When is the last time one of us BIs did a site inspection? He also said that they would expand the DHS contract. Really? So, I took it as “don’t worry, be happy…you’re still employed…for now” We will see, as they say.
Mgt is pretending like nothing is happening. They’re riding the wave to the end…i would ride it too if my job was clicking around on spreadsheets asking why cases are late. People actually doing the work not so much…to include driving 2 or 3 hours ro work 90% of your cases because “youre the closest person.”
There isn’t much information to share is my guess. Everything is still hung up with the GAO. Everything discussed is simply speculation. For Paragon investigators, the choices are to stay and ride it out or jump ship. Keep in mind that the work is the work. It will be there if Paragon stays or goes. There will always be a job for a cleared investigator. I would rather stay here as long as possible than make a hasty decision and be miserable. More simply put, I would rather postpone my misery for as long as possible. I’m pretty good with that decision.
The work situation is the same at all companies except maybe Omni which I heard is good. If you have a decent situation at paragon ride it out. If youre driving extensivly, or have a pscho team lead (or both) then there’s nothing to lose. Adding: Paragon is a great company, way better than most so whats happening to them is a shame. Its all politics and money.
I can attest to this. Paragon is great to work for. I have never worked for another vendor though so I cant judge.
I think there was a rumor that CACI might have lost the DHS contract and Paragon got more of it or something? If that is true, then expanding the DHS contract would seem viable, I guess?
Are you basing that on anything specific?
Just looked at that GAO site. Looks like Paragon has filed additional protests. Decision due by Dec 12th. Could this drag out any longer?
All I know is that Paragon in Florida could care less about their investigators. I can’t believe that my lead was more interested in having more work assigned to the Florida team before we lost power so that we could print all of the material we needed. And then what? What are we supposed to do then? work in the dark? Call leads who have evacuated the areas? Simply unacceptable behavior.
Contractors are like vampires. Always after the bottom dollar and profits. Why “national security” is being worked for at profit companies Ill never know!
