Loss of jurisdiction and did 22 yrs with a TS/SCI matter?

Had a PR done in 2021, retired 2022 spent a year trying to transition (had several life events happen & moved states a few times). Nov 2023 found great job with an agency and their SSO told me my clearance expired. I called DCSA and they said it was a loss of jurisdiction after leaving DOD. Company was great they initiated an investigation and the agent assigned starts making life difficult.
The agent was over the top asking ‘interrogating’ me about history from over 25 years ago!! About my DD214, (I was in 6 mths and separated due to medical which was fixed 5 years later and I enlisted again) I’ve spent 22 years in with no issues, and he’s asking about 25 yrs ago…and other things I just got frustrated. My question is why? I always thought it was based on your equip and they could only go back 10 years regardless? Unless you’re 18 etc. I got so annoyed especially after having a TS/SCI for so long, WHY do this when you would think it would be easier having a previous clearance?
