Back in May 2024, I got a contingent offer from a DoD contractor company X. Two weeks ago, I was notified my clearance was granted.
I got a notification today from HR saying my position was filled back in August. He would submit my application to another position to that hiring manager. Seems like I need to go back to an interview again?
I guess the worst scenario is I would be no longer considered with this company, but I can keep my clearance?
Is this a normal thing in clearance job field where the role and candidate was not 1 to 1 relationship? (Offer was sent to multiple persons??)
What options are available for me at this point? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I haven’t heard of this with contracting companies, but it is pretty common for some agencies in the federal government to hire more people than they have roles available because they expect a certain percentage to wash out of the clearance process.
Contracting is tough though as companies have to keep those positions filled or they could lose the funding for the role. If they have adjudicated your clearance, you should be eligible to apply to other companies and use the clearance.

Thanks. First time applying for a clearance job and seems like there are so many bumps along the road. I was ready to put my two week’s and looking for the apartments. Guess I need to look for jobs instead :(.
Maybe not normal but it does happen. Maybe they had an internal candidate who needed a job. Maybe they lost a contract and this was a little white lie. Sending offers to multiple people is more of a government thing, don’t think it happens too often with contractors.
If you are already cleared that’s a big step in the right direction.
In the meantime, see if you can find out the date your clearance was granted and you can put that on a resume. “Eligible for access to based on an investigation completed <dd/mm/yyyy>”

Just apply for other jobs that can use the clearance you have.
If you got a TS and pick a good market and a something in demand, (like IT), many will hire you on the spot without more than a phone screening. I used to have to send out 1000 resumes to get 1 interview, 100 interviews to get 1 offer. When I got my clearance, I applied to 20 jobs like I usually did but got all 20 offers within a week. Best of luck.

Will the confirmation email be sufficient as a proof? Or do I need to ask for any types of proof from DSCA?
I appreciate your insights. I will see what is available out there for me.
