Hey all ! So back last October I was terminated from Caci being accused of falsifying information yet they couldn’t provide a report they just stated I violated business code of ethics . Recently a recruiter reached out from Omniplex and I have been offered a 1099 contract job for DHS contract . Please give me the good , the bad and the ugly for working for Omniplex as a 1099 . Also fun fact I have never worked DHS . Any insight will be appreciated.

Have you told the recruiter the details of your termination? If so, are they still interested? I think all the companies are having a very hard time getting people to work DHS right now because of the current climate. I haves steered clear of the many recruiters who have reached out regarding DHS. My conscience won’t let me work on that contract at this time But, DHS does have a giant budget and are most certainly hiring people who need investigations.

I have told details of my termination to the recruiter . I gave her a very detailed timeline with names etc and what happened .
I recently left from there and there was no DHS work unless you live in TX
There are other government agencies I don’t feel comfortable working for as well. Selective reasoning and choices are what Freedom in this country is all about. The more you investigate the more knowledge you have and the better personal choices you can make. I want my country to move forward in my version of a “more perfect union”
Would love to hear your specific criticisms and points as opposed to just labeling my decision/reasoning skills as “poor/bad” but that’s your freedom of choice. 
Susan asked about Omni, the company, and so here goes. They are the only company I work for now. Over the years, I have worked on almost all of their contracts. I now exclude ICE and it seems OK with them. You get to pick your work from their system and generally have seven days to complete it. It’s not that much different from DOD contracts, except for a few new forms relating to mission-specific questions, which you read to them. Extra emphasis on foreign contacts, foreign connections, etc. If you live in a southern border state, the applicant will almost certainly have them. Case managers review your work, and you will then receive a request for additional work or questions if they feel it needs to be addressed. I have worked for other contracting companies, and none of them have the flexibility Omni offers.

You must be an Omni employee or you reside in a high volume area or near a big city or border town because Omniplex hasn’t given any consistent or regular work to their IC’s in a year and a half now. I see Omniplex hiring across the nation for many IC’s and I’m baffled at this hiring practice because Omniplex isn’t providing regular work to their IC’s as most of their work goes to their hourly and salaried employees. In my opinion very little work goes to IC’s. Omni isn’t a real player in the IC market currently (things could change) until they start engaging with their IC’s on a regular basis.
I declined the position based on the fact that someone I know recently worked for them and in the 8 month period they had 15 DHS cases . Being a IC was not cost effective for me .
