A month after submitting my SF86 for a DOD job requiring TS/SCI, I was shocked to receive a FJO and was told my interim was approved (I’m assuming just the TS part of course).
I’m eager to work for this agency, but I am in no way ready to pick up and move 2,000 miles to DC at the moment because 1) I anticipated a much longer processing time, and 2) The thought of rolling the dice that my final TS/SCI will be issued and cutting ties with my current job is giving me heartburn.
I don’t believe I have any red flags and I provided complete details on extensive foreign travel and my only foreign contacts (in US-friendly countries). But I’m still terrified to run the risk of walking away with nothing in a few months.
I’d love to ask HR to hold the job for me until I get a final adjudication, but something tells me that’s wishful thinking.
Any advice, insights, suggestions?
