For my clearance processing, I was given a form to be filled out since I had indicated I had been to therapy during my psych assessment. This form goes into detail about how long attending, presenting symptoms, treatment, etc. I kinda just left the psych interview at that.
This counseling was court ordered as part of divorce agreements between my parents, with it being binding until I turned 18 (I was going around late 16-when I turned 18). I had a very bad relationship with the counselor, along with pretty much all of my family except for one of my parents. That parent also spoke to the counselor recently after I brought it up, and the counselor mentioned a review I left not long after I was able to stop going (it was a pretty scalding review).
This process has me quite stressed, and I have been extremely overthinking. According to what that parent and the counselor discussed, the counselor didn’t consider me a patient and “was not able to make a diagnosis” from the time I was going. Still, I don’t like the prospect of having a (what I would consider) biased counselor who I’ve had a bad relationship being required to fill out this paperwork. I am not yet sure if that counselor has sent the required paperwork back to the agency, and according to the agency, I am stuck in a “holding pattern” with psychology until that form is returned. I reached out to their email to explain the circumstances, and they just said “[it] has been forwarded to the director. We will contact you if anything additional is needed.”
I really hope that they are able to write this off due to me being a minor and having no other concerns regarding mental health. On SF86 Question 21, I had put “no” as I completely overlooked this and honestly thought nothing of it. I am undergoing a separate process for secret clearance, and when I had spoken to the investigator to ask about if this needs to be listed, he said that it was fine to fill in Question 21 on the SF86 as “no” due to the circumstances of being family trauma related and me being a minor (I had filled out the SF86 originally this way).
