I have Secret Security Clearance (DoD) on my current position.
If I leave my current job for another position that does not require clearance, how long will my clearance remain active?
Thank You
It isn’t a question of whether it is “active” but how easily it can be picked up by the new employer (yes it is splitting hairs but we like to do that here )
Generally the rule of thumb is two years, so if you leave this cleared job and get a new one within that two year window you should be OK… at least most employers should be willing to make you an offer.
As always, there are exceptions. YMMV as the say (if they still say that)
