I held a Secret clearance from 2012 - 2022 when I left my company and went to a non-DoD- position. My understanding was that it would remain sort of in a dormant state for 2 years. I’m now considering returning to the DoD world and have interviewed over the phone with some recruiters. Today, I was asked to provide my social over the phone to verify my status. I told them I wasn’t comfortable with that. Is there any way to verify my status myself so that I don’t have to give my social over the phone? Thanks.
It is a normal practice as long as you are sure you are talking with the company recruiter. They need the SSN to check DISS for the status of your clearance.
Thank you Marko. I was only familiar with JPAS. I asked what they used to check and he did say DISS, so that added to my skepticism since I was unfamiliar with that acronym.
