Hey, I have a question about my security processing with the US Secret Service. I currently hold a TS – SCI clearance with the DoD and I’m working as the civilian for an agency. I started processing with Secret Service under their CAT team application. I have completed my agent entry exam,Physical fitness exam, and super interview. The secret service appplixant portal says I am 50% done. I did just get my clearance in the winter of 2023. So I did my polygraph and security interview with my current agency in mid 2023 and what not. It’s been about two months since I’ve heard anything from Secret Service. I think my final super interview was on July 22 of 2025. I am wondering if I have anything else to do? Why is the process taking so long? I have reciprocity from my current Clarence to get into Secret Service? Or what other steps will I have to take?
your CSO/FSO (or whoever submitted your package) should be able to answer all those questions.
Two months is barely a blink of an eye when it comes to federal government hiring. Sounds like everything is proceeding normally and will continue until a) you get your FJO or b) it stops proceeding normally.
USSS always needs people I’m sure they will reach out to you soon. One question: did you have to fill out a new SF-86 or an SF-86C? they should be able to accept your current clearance and poly
Hey! Thanks for the reply. You are so right, I waited way longer for my current agency. As for the SF – 86 or SF – 86C, I don’t think so? I know, for a fact, the title of the document I filled out was the “USSS supplemental security clearance forms.” Does this answer your question? I know for a fact I didn’t fill out the SF 86 again.
Hey! Thanks for answering. I wish I could say you are correct, however none of my emails have any CSO/FSO info. It’s more of a generic email like their SAsupport or HQrecruitment shared email you can ask questions to, but no one has ever answered me lol.
interesting. I’m not familiar with that one. The 86C is a form to be used when the applicant has had a recent investigation and it just asks if anything has changed. Anyway this all makes it sound like they are accepting your current investigation and poly which is a big plus.
You will either get hired, or you will get the dreaded better qualified applicant (BQA) letter. Only time will tell. It is not a good place to work BTW.
100% this! It’s a very cliquish and very “good ol’ boys” vs the “grunts,” and they treat contractors like 3rd class citizens.
Nearly all of the Federal Agencies do. I am sure you have heard the expression “Get to work you contractor puke.” Not right but sums up their attitude. The Secret Service has a lot of internal dissentions, to the point where employees disagree with internal policies and their treatment so much, they are ratting the agency out to outsiders.
