Security requires additional time to process your file

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? I took my first polygraph, but the result came back inconclusive, and now I’m waiting to be scheduled for a second one.

It’s been almost two months since the first test, and I’m applying for a co-op position that starts in August, so I’m starting to get a bit concerned about the timeline.

If anyone has gone through this process or has any insight, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.

normal. And if it’s IC in MD or VA, they have a major backlog right now so could easily take twice that long.

This might be agency specific. Have seen coworkers get called in for a poly pretty quickly over the past few months. Adjudication is a different story

The pseudonymous Ralph J. Perro’s essay, “Interviewing with an Intelligence Agency: Or, a Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Fort Meade,” remains relevant:

good to know. The agency im going for might have backlog as suggested by rob.

thanks for your response

yeah that makes sense then.

do you know if certain agencies speed up the process for certain individuals if there are deadlines for a specific program?

Not usueally. It’s usually a first in first out unless someone specifically jumps the line in an "expedited Background investigation. If by Co-Op you mean an internship, you will not be moved further up the lines unless here is a drastic need. Even that may not do it. The agencies aren’t efficient and there is lots of incompetence. To be frank, i wouldn’t be counting on this opportunity. It’s highly unlikely you will get thru by June even if you were already in adjudication.
