Not sure what’s going on, or how much more time it will take to issue my TS/SCI clearance!!

P.S. I’m a former interpreter with the US Army (locally hired) overseas during the war, I’ve been security vetted twice during my service time as an interpreter with the Army & DoD contractors!

My TS timeline:
Submitted SF-86 early September 2023 (around 9/10)
Had my subject interview 10/06/23
Informed today that it was granted (11/3/23)

I wonder if there is a difference in clearance timelines for processing between DoD civilian employees and contractors. I already had an active Secret clearance, but that investigation was definitely T3, and also already overdue for renewal.

My Secret clearance took 18 months. I was a contractor at the time and it was back in 2016 when everything was backed up.

How??? What did you have to say or do to get processed that fast?? I guess some folks just get lucky

Could just be an interim.

If you are referring to me, it was not an interim. In fact, my security person decided not to bother requesting an interim. Didn’t see it as necessary.

I didn’t do anything special, and I was surprised too. Do the same contract companies investigate civilian employees as investigate contractors? I got the impression my interviewer was also an employee rather than a contractor, but I may have misinterpreted something he said. I had my fingerprints taken at the base where I work this time, but the first time, when I was a contractor, I had to go my local police department.

Same investigators for both employee and contractors.

A quick secret is not unheard of when your former employers, supervisors, and various verifiers respond quickly and there were no developed issues.

This was not for a Secret, but a TS.

I know of a SSBI/Tier 5 that was completed in three weeks from submission until notification of adjudication. Granted, that Subject previously held a TS/SCI, filled out the SF 86 correctly, and had already told those around him they might be contacted by an investigator. That Subject had a recent divorce and foreign born relatives.

That was my own in 2003 after an almost three year break from the cleared world.

The timeliness for any case still boils down to several factors with only a few the Subject can control, such as listing the correct dates, required information/issues, and current contact information for verifiers/references.

Wild! Congratulations

I suspected we were in the same group of orientation!

!! Now I really wish they have a DM function!

Lol! Obviously you must be in this line of work for a while! I gotta figure that out!

Yes!! A lot of trainings! They told me to give it a 6 month at least!

And I started reading the SSL website you recommended. Although my function is not as technical, I think for the context and just general good practice it would be good.

Hi all! Congrats to those who had their clearance granted and FJOs! And good luck to those of you like me who are still at the “hurry up and wait stage.”

Here’s my current timeline for three-letter agency TS position (I’m a citizenship by birth/child of US citizens):

Submitted application - Aug 2022
On-site language testing - Oct 2022
Conditional Job Offer - Dec 2022
Submitted SF-86 on CESP - Feb 2023
Additional info requested - Mar 2023
Additional info requested - May 2023
BI Interview - Aug 2023
Additional info requested - Sept 2023

Haven’t heard anything since, except: 1) A language hiring ambassador was assigned to me in Aug 2023, and he has still be in contact with me as recently as last week; 2) I received a strange email last week from Talent Acquisition saying “Your qualifications meet our initial sourcing criteria. Your resume is being forwarded to a Hiring Manager for further consideration. There is no additional action for you at this time.” It references the same job title I applied to back in Dec 2022, but a different numerical job posting ID; and 3) I can no longer access my SF-86 info on CESP. I tried to login in this week and it will not allow me. Meanwhile, haven’t heard anything from my background investigator since September, and the investigation sounded like it was wrapping up at that point.

So I don’t know what’s going on really? I don’t know if my BI is complete and that’s why the CESP portal is closed to me now and why it says my info has been passed to a hiring manager. I don’t know if the job I was applying to is no longer available or what. I do have several foreign contacts in Russia, so I know that made the BI stuff take longer and at this point they may not even be able to verify some of it due to the war/diplomatic deterioration there.

My biggest question is why I can longer access my profile on CESP. Anyone know why that might be the case? Do we lose access once BI is completed or something?

Update: I can access my CESP portal again! I guess the system maybe just was experiencing issues over the weekend? I also emailed my hiring ambassador this morning to see if he could find out anything about the current status of my application. Fingers crossed.

Hey!

Hiring ambassador probably wouldn’t know. But, I know hiring ambassadors don’t talk to every candidate so that’s a good news. You should contact your HR.

May I ask you which language do you speak?

Additionally, my timeline after the BI was poly/psych three months after the BI. If you are in the process of BI, the just give it some time. And let’s hope government wouldn’t shut down during the Thanksgiving timeline!

Congrats!

My company’s security team sent out some kind of “what’s going on, please adjudicate” message last week. They told me it should be done in the next three months. We’ll see I guess.

any updates?
