Wait time for DIA to approve SCI access (Contractor with current TS/SCI FS Poly)

Hello,

I originally got my TS/SCI with FS poly from a 3 letter agency. I switched over to DOD as a contractor and my crossover and SCI approval took 2 weeks. Now, i have been offered a contract position under DIA and it’s taking forever (It’s been 5 weeks now) for DIA to approve my SCI access. I’ve been under CE the entire time, clearance is active etc. My TS/SCI is in DISS but my Polygraph is in Scattered Castles.

Anyone have any insights on why they’re taking so long? My COR has followed up with them a few times too.

I waited over a year and half with DIA. They hadn’t even got to me by then so i moved on.

RIF, shutdown, general staffing shortages.

Thank you, Rob. Do you have any idea what timeline I should expect? My COR is on them quite a bit, because I’m supposed to start Jan 6th. Does it make a difference that my start date is coming up? Thanks for any insights!

no idea. Just FYI, clearance has nothing to do with SCI. SCI is just an access and each agency manages its own SCI access. It could be days, weeks or months. FBI and NSA are usually months.

Good news is, you should be able to start your job without it (unless the contract is SCI only). See if they will let you do non-sci work until it’s approved. You may also be able to be escorted into scif even without SCI approval.

IMPORTANT: try to get your sci network user accounts set up before you get SCIF access (some places will, some won’t). Have your federal PO submit your epas req for that ASAP. Otherwise, you can tac on another 6-8 weeks of wait time before you can use a SCIF workstation.

This may have been possible in the past, but nobody does it like this anymore that I’ve seen. The good news is that accounts can get set up very quickly now.

Not for us unf. It still takes months here. But they do allow us to request the accounts while waiting on the SAR. I’ts part of our onboarding SOP.

The only time something like that happened to me was when I was working for one agency but was assigned to work at NSA. My home agency cleared me and set me up with accounts as soon as I started, but I had to wait several more weeks before NSA would even let me in the building, and then ANOTHER six weeks or so before I got my NSA accounts.

But they’re special

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: you just made my day
