The FSO of the company that is sponsoring my clearance told me that my Top Secret has been granted but wanted to know when can I start my next position? It has been two weeks and it is for federal contractor. They told me they’re just waiting an update from the customer but how long does it usually take. Also, do I actually have the clearance now or I have to wait until I can start my position to show that I have clearance?
I’d say right now you have “eligibility” based on a favorably adjudicated background investigation. Once you get the job and go through security briefings (to include signing various non-disclosure agreements) then you will have a clearance.
See if you can find out the actual date the investigation completed, that’s a useful bit of info to have handy should you need to go looking for a new job.
