1099ers workload

Usually work slows down in October because there’s always the big push to get as many cases completed by the end of fiscal year which is always September 30. Then work picks back up mid October or so. This year was unique because of the government shutdown. You would think after that 40 plus day pause in being able to get new work going that right now there would be a flood of work but no…My boss made it sound like the “systems” needed to get back up and running. But regardless, they are not being forthright about what to expect and more importantly WHEN.

Yeah, I was hoping to have work by now so I could tell the non-profit my situation had changed and I’m going back to work.

Anyway, I start Monday

Can’t trust investigations as a primary source of income in this climate. It’s been risky since 2019 but even worse now. As a side job in this climate then sure.

It’s a joke. And I’d go so far as to say proof the, uh, “most senior management” is unserious about personnel vetting.

I’m now hearing January for work. Work coming out at fiscal year (9/25)—didn’t happen, after gov shutdown ends—didn’t happen, after Thanksgiving—didn’t happen. This job seems more like a random hobby at this point. I thought we were in the truth business?? Also, in the past being off work for 1 month required equipment to be returned or the sky would fall and the earth would spin off the axle. Now all of a sudden it’s ok to not work and keep equipment. This is who you’re really dealing with people.

I may just jump the gun and send my stuff in so they don’t have to request it :+1: Again, what a joke.

Not totally on point but the seeming new normal of only getting dumpster fire cases in the field for in-person is not sustainable. Just emerged from a two-hour ESI with dual citizenship, foreign gov ties, unpaid taxes for years and 13 derog financial accounts. A hour to brief and chase down my guy. An hour round trip to the interview site. Three hours to type it up. Half an hour easy to process documentation.

These were fine when they were balanced out by easy cases. Now they’re all monsters.

On every contract nothing but monster cases only it seems

My new favs are the folks going into the military and case papers look clean. Then you get in the ESI and Sub’s got 5 years of drug use, drug purchasing, 3 family members who are foreign nationals, 2 arrests for domestic violence, and he failed to list three short term employments.
Heaven help me!

Yeah, I’ve noticed that too. Recruiters do not give a ■■■■ anymore.

I just spent six hours tonight writing one of those up!

A clean military case can never happen because of how they are instructed to complete the case papers. If military is out of scope it’s almost a breeze.

I had two RZs but was assigned a Supp TESI and 2 TESIs. Within the past 3 weeks. So I don’t think it’s a metrics thing. Now assigned me 3 source empl this week.
