Ok… sounds good. I have over 700 hours of sick time to use….lol.
Update:
As of September 20th, I took the drug screening.
Anyone have an idea of when I should be hearing from my background investigator?
Or should I just ask my HR rep? (Don’t really wanna bother her though… lol.)
When did you submit your SCA/SF86?
I have yet to receive either. I’ve started and completed about 73% of my onboarding forms however.
no SF86, no clearance, no start
Once you receive the SF-86, get it done quickly and accurately. It should move relatively quick once you submit it, especially for the investigator position. Adjudication, however, is anyone’s guess
I guess my question is…
What’s the time frame between completing your drug screening and being contacted by the security office/background investigator to start the background investigation process?
For me, it was about a week.
Pushing 3 for me… but I’ll continue to be patient.
you have to submit your SF 86 before you can be interviewed for your background. The drug screening does not trigger the interview.
Have you submitted your security questionnaire? (eQip)
Ok… understood.
I guess, I’m still asking the question incorrectly.
When after conducting the drug screening, should I expect to receive the SF-86 to then complete it and THEN have my security interview?
I’m a contractor and not a fed, but my coworkers and I didn’t do things in the same order. Some of them took their drug test before their interview. I didn’t get assigned mine until I was already in training.
You should receive and email “invite” to complete the questionnaire. If not done so, review a copy of the SF86 on line and start gathering all of the information for your questionnaire.
That’s actually a wonderful idea. Thank you!
Update:
Today marks a month (including non business days) since submitting my drug screening.
Tock tock, tick tock…lol.
Hey Trey,
I have read this entire thread and I’m a little bewildered that you have not received the eQip email yet. I know this might seem rather pedestrian; have you checked your spam filter? If it were me, I would drop a call to HR and just check in and see if they sent you an invite for your SF-86. From my experience everyone has been so over the top nice; your call won’t hurt. And, if your in the VA area I can say from experience that the company used for the Drug Screen is VERY backed up. My drug screen took over 6 weeks and that is crazy.
Now for a bit of sunshine as you go through what ALL of us have. DCSA is spending time, money and interest in YOU. That good sir is like winning the lottery. Distract yourself with other stuff and drop a call to HR.
Please continue to keep us posted and Good Luck!
Hey,
Thanks for the response and I hope all is going well with your process?
I haven’t even thought to check spam - going to check.
In regards to the drug screening, I’m in Southern PA, so I had to take it here send it to HQ/Richmond VA (NOT entirely sure which location it goes to first)….
Yikes, 6 weeks? That’s understandable considering what’s happening with covid, I guess.
Thank you, I appreciate the kind words and will definitely call my HR Rep after checking my spam folder!
Have a great day and be safe!
It’s great to hear so many people willing to work and get vaccinated to do so! I am continually perplexed by fellow contractor investigator coworkers and managers that are refusing to get vaccinated without an exemption and expecting to continue to do this work??? I understood it more 6 months ago but not so much anymore
I’ll kindly stay away from the vaccine issue.
Its’ good practice. Asking invasive probing questions about touchy personal issues (sex, addiction, relationships, crime, nationality, etc. etc.) in a non partisan, non confrontational, relaxed manner is part of the DCSA investigator job every single day.
