i have a friend who also thinks it could be due to the end of the fiscal year. guess we will be waiting for a month or so? heard fy25 starts oct 1
If you are told that you need to come back the next day, how do they work that out with travel?
I am local so I just took the morning off of work the next day and drove back. Iād imagine it would be a bit trickier for long-distance candidates. I have undergone a poly where I was a long-distance candidate and had to come back to take again, but I was a student at the time so it didnāt involve any rescheduling conflicts (oh no I missed a day of class how unfortunate! (I proceeded to get inconclusive again that time))
More than likely, if you are NOT local, they will not have a next-day appointment available. You will probably have to fly back in at a later date for round 2. At least thatās what I had to do, along with several others I talked to on my last trip over there.
You ontained your FOI request in a month?
UPDATE:
had my interviews in May, as far as I know most of my family has been contacted. still waiting. havenāt seen it moved to adjudication or head anything in several weeks again. but still some progress.
So youāre already on your 2nd BI and neither has been completed after several years? Sounds like maybe theyāre not happy with something in your background. No offense, but you may want rethink your options and look for non-cleared career. Otherwise, best of luck, hang in there.
Iām in adjudication for realsies this time, first time it was put into adw during the great OPM/DODCAF hand-off. I lost that job 2 years prior to the AdW and was only working there for a year. So, 3 years, during the huge backlog era, short BI, and seemingly just in a stack.
Nothing in my history is that concerning for denial. I did get an LOI a couple months ago that I returned recently. They just wanted me to give them the use history for a medication I was on from '16-'21 because I reported something that wasnāt actually reportable (derp), and for me to clarify something my first BI got mixed up during my 6 year old interview. Itās more likely that Iāve been in the āok this can waitā stack for most of the time.
It would certainly give me pause at this point if I got denied, but my job already will keep me on uncleared after. Itāll work out no matter what.
Oh note, my BIās themselves were both really fast, I just waited forever for an adjudicator to be assigned both times.
When people say it took them a year, for example, to get a TS clearance, are they generally āstarting the clockā when they were interviewed for a position or when their SF-86 was approved?
To get the clearance the clock will start when the SF-86 is approved.
Thanks! Iām hoping itās a lot sooner than that! 86 was approved in early February. BI wrapped up in April and poly in July.
Keep in mind that everyoneās timeline is different, so it seems like you are moving quicker based on what you posted.
I appreciate your insight. Take care!
assuming ur in a 3 letter agency process, this isnt too far off my timeline. SF86 approved in feb, poly /psych in early august. I still have no idea if I still need a BI tho or if theyāre actually reusing a previous one
I had to take 3 polys.
This is just interesting that you havenāt heard anything about people being interviewed. I already am in the IC, but clearance is from the DoD. They only contacted people from the last time I had an investigation as far as I have been told (person told me they were contacted). So it very well could be the case, especially if they had you take the poly.
Itās official, I hate the adjudication phase more than the other phases. At least early on I had appointments or things to look forward to and plan for. Now? The void.
I mean I would assume I should be interviewed and I have before when Iāve applied to the agency previously, but I havenāt yet for my current process so Iām wondering if theyāre reusing
I wonder if it is slower right now because its almost FY25. I am wondering when I will actually start after the polygraph.
